And I did it…
Sorry I missed the post yesterday. The past few days have been crazy. So, I guess you want to know what I've done since I last left you.
Wednesday I had a TV interview in the freezing cold morning (I'm getting a DVD so maybe I can put it on YouTube). Then we had rehearsal and finished the finale and opening sections. I was excited that we got to end in a fish dive and that Alex made me do triple partnered pirouettes (thanks Alex). Then we went out to dinner with Valerie.
On Thursday, Katy came back and we had a later rehearsal where we ran through everything, tweaking and perfecting.
Friday, we had class and rehearsal. We marked through our variations and then headed over to the Theatre. At the theatre, Katy and I visited some classrooms in our tutus. The kids were so amazed at our pointe shoes and wondered how our tutus stood out. Then we had dress rehearsal which went ok. After dress rehearsal we had the first show. It went pretty well.
Saturday, we went into town for a little while, ate at Sweet Life and then returned to the theatre for a run through of the show. Here Valerie told me to be more playful with my variation and to own the stage like it was my kingdom (which it was).
Sunday, we packed up and headed to the theatre for our last show. I worked on being more playful and Valerie said it was better. I actually felt like the first show was better (steps wise) but everyone else thought the second one was. After the show I said bye to Valerie and we followed Alex to his house where we stayed the night.
Then, we got on the plane this morning to come home. We got to Atlanta around 2:00 and I called Ms. Joanie to see when she needed me to work with James for Snow Queen. She said to stop by the studion on the way home and she would tell me then. Well, I got to the studio and we decided to do it then and there. So I learned the pas part for snow queen which is really fun. And tomorrow we have dress rehearsal.
So, I'm just all Nutcracker all the time right now. I am so grateful to God and Valerie for this opportunity. I have learned so much and gained a great experience. Well, I better go to sleep; I've gotta get some school done in the morning before Laura comes to visit on Wednesday (yay!!). TTYL, Rebekah
PS-let me know how your Nutcracker has been going by leaving a comment.
PPS-you can read the newspaper article that was in the Telluride Daily Planet here.

So far, I've been interviewed twice and I have a TV interview tomorrow. Check out this website for an article.

We made it!!!!
Yesterday, we were traveling. We flew from Atlanta to Dallas and then to Grand Junction. From Grand Junction, we drove to Telluride. The land is so different here. It's a little desert-y and then here we're in the mountains and it's snowy. Here's a pic from the drive.
This morning we met Alex, the Prince, and Katy, the Snow Queen. They're staying with us in the guest house. Then we went to rehearsal and did our variations. It's VERY different dancing at 9000ft above sea level. You get so tired easily. At rehearsal, we worked out the tag at the end of my variation and I think it's going to be okay. I was so nervous about all those turns. Well, that's about all for now. I'll try to post more pics soon. I will be posting throughout the week so check back often.
Decking the Halls
…Christmas!!!
One of my favorite family activities is decorating the Christmas tree every year. We decorated this year's tree last night. We used to have a real tree every year but after Gran moved in with us we took on her fake tree. It doesn't smell as good but it's cheaper, cleaner (well, you still have to vacuum after it), and it stays green for the whole season. Here are some pics from last night.
Me and Boo sorting branches.
The boys. (sorry it's blurry) We decided to try putting the branches in from top to bottom instead of bottom to top. It actually worked quite well.
And finally here's a video of how to decorate a tree in under 2 minutes. 🙂
Merry Early Christmas!!
Snapshot of my life
This has been a busy week. On Wednesday I had my first coaching call for CollegePlus, and we had our annual picture made with Santa. Here's a pic of us with our cousins.
On Saturday, we had mini performance at a local park. I got to do my Sugar Plum variation. Here's a pic with Carly (my mom's cousin's daughter, so I guess that would make her my cousin too).
And today, we had an all day rehearsal of pretty much the whole show. Here's a pic of me doing Snow Queen. I'll put some more rehearsal pics in the photo album soon.
On top of all this I'm trying to get ahead for school so I don't have to work in Colorado, and I'm getting a lot of sales in my shops. So, there's a little snapshot of my life.
5 things my parents taught me Pt. 1
A while ago, I was eating breakfast and Daddy sat down to eat with me. We were talking and he ended up asking me to make a list of 5 things that he and Mommy had taught me. Well, I thought for a few weeks and tried to think of 5 big things that they had taught me. There are so many things that I have learned from them that it was hard. I thought, well they've taught me to read, to be polite, to manage my time and money, etc. But I knew that there were bigger things as well. Eventually, I narrowed it down to the following list.
-
Firstly, my parents taught me to love the Lord. I'm not sure how it is possible to actually teach someone to love but my parents have done it. They are living examples of people who love the Lord and I am blessed to have them pass it down to me. They are my spiritual role models.
-
Next, my parents have taught me to remember who I am. Ever since we were little, they would always tell us, "remember who you are". Now, I see where that has taken me. It was not telling us to represent the family well, but it was telling us that whatever circumstance we are in, to stay true to who we are. My parents have instilled in me the desire to be the same wherever I go and not to change with my surroundings.
-
My parents have also taught me to remember who I represent. They have shown me that I not only represent my earthly family but my Heavenly Father as well. As one of His ambassadors, my job is to glorify Him wherever I go. Mommy and Daddy have shown me that this is one of the most important things in life.
-
Number four is to make wise decisions. This one is a little different. By walking me through important decisions as I get older and showing me how they made them when I was younger, my parents taught me to make decisions by seeking guidance, looking at all of the facts and most importantly, listening to the Lord.
-
Lastly, my parents have taught me to be a leader. Now, this is not the kind of leader you might think of. Mommy and Daddy have shown me that in order to be a leader, you must be a servant. They have modeled this in their own lives and I aspire to be like them.
Over the next few months I will go into each of these five things in more detail. It will be a sort of blog series and I might even throw in a few posts written by Daddy himself.
Listen, my son, to your father's instruction and do not forsake your mother's teaching. ~Proverbs 1:8
So Sorry
Hi everyone,
I am so sorry that this post is so late. I don't have that much of an excuse except that I've been busy and I couldn't think of that much to write about. Anyway, there will be a new post this Sunday and in the mean time I wanted to let you know that Caleb has started an animation blog here. See you Sunday.
